Reclamation

Brand and Visual Identity Program

The U.S. Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Reclamation asked Media South to create an identity for this far-ranging agency that’s responsible for all water use west of the Mississippi River. The main problem was its name: What on earth does “reclamation” mean? Because changing the name required an act of Congress (really!), we came up with a tagline to explain the agency’s job: “Managing Water in the West.” Next, we took the crux of the name problem and made it their logo—“RECLAMATION.” Then we wrapped it all up with a blue and khaki (water and sand) color scheme. To keep the brand true to its nature, we provided a series of print and online templates and guidelines so that RECLAMATION looks the same from Canada to Mexico.
