Single Shot Rifle Journal

The editor of the Single Shot Rifle Journal (the flagship publication of the American Single Shot Rifle Association) contacted Media South to see if we could help out with the design and production of this venerable target-shooting publication. Always thrilled to take a shot at new things, we said, “Sure!” We started the redesign with the cover, using a machine-age typeface to reflect the late-nineteenth century beginnings of the organization. Cover images were enlarged to take full advantage of the association’s beautiful, crisp art-photography of these antique rifles. In keeping with the association’s wish to keep member dues low, we designed the interior in the style of black-and-white academic journals. The new look has been enthusiastically received by the membership, and ad sales are up.
